Matej Runjak

At the beginning of his career, Matej Runjak worked as a finance manager and financial director in companies from real estate and construction industry, where he got to know the functioning of the human resources field, valuations, management of real estate investments and asset management.

In 2005, he assumed the position of Executive Director for Strategic Finance in a leading Slovenian investment bank, where he also participated in the establishment of several private equity funds. In just three years he assumed the position of a Procurator at the company and co-managed EUR 220m of investments in the company's private equity funds.

As Executive Director he led the restructuring of a small German bank in 2010 and after the completion of the task joined the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Slovenia and became Director General of the Directorate for Public Assets and the Financial System. At Ministry of Finance he led the group for the establishment of unified asset management within the Slovenian Sovereign Holding. He was also a member of the group for the establishment of the Bank Asset Management Company, where he collaborated with many institutions in the field of the financial system in Slovenia and EU.

In 2013, he became a Board Member of Slovenian Sovereign Holding, where he managed privatization procedures with a total value of more than EUR 1bln and co-managed the most important capital investments of the Republic of Slovenia.

In 2016, he returned to the field of consulting in M&A and assumed the position of Director in an international consulting company. When Zavarovalnica Triglav and KGAL founded Trigal alternative investment management company in 2017, he became its CEO.

In the past, Matej Runjak was also the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Zavarovalnica Triglav and SID banka and a Member of the Supervisory Boards of Cinkarna Celje, Nama and Triglav Funds.
