Tim Umberger

Tim Umberger has been actively involved in asset management industry for his entire career, an area he got to know in depth as a partner of one of the largest independent asset management companies in Central and Eastern Europe. For many years, he was involved in making strategic decisions regarding investments in various investment classes. With in-depth knowledge of the macroeconomic and political environment, transaction structuring and analytics he managed investments in several companies from a wide range of industries.
Tim Umberger started his career as Analyst at KD Group, from where his path led him to East Capital, a leading independent asset management company in Central and Eastern Europe, headquartered in Stockholm. He was initially employed at East Capital as Senior Analyst in charge of financial modeling, data collection, analysis and valuation of companies in various countries and industries.
In 2011, he was promoted to the position of Senior Advisor and Deputy Head of the Investment Department for the entire Eastern Europe. During seven years in this position, he held the mandate of the world's largest investors, and thanks to extensive and diversified portfolio of investments, he built a wide international network of contacts of leading managers and economic policy makers in various countries.
After ten years at East Capital, Umberger was promoted to the position of Partner, and his work environment was split between Stockholm and Moscow. At East Capital, he also served as a member of the board for the company's strategic orientation, management guidance and key personnel appointments. He was also appointed as a member of the investment committee for key investment decisions, acquisitions and treasury of the company, which managed EUR 5bln of assets.
Tim Umberger is currently Member of Supervisory Board of Gorenjska banka, chairman of the risk committee and a member of the bank's HR committee. In 2023 he also became Member of Supervisory Board of Zavarovalnica Triglav. In the past, he was also Member of Management board of B92, a leading Serbian media company, and Member of Management Board of AIK Bank, one of the largest Serbian banks.
